Knowledge of basic crochet stitches is needed as instructions for the chain stitch, double crochet and slip stitch are not included within this pattern. I DO show you with in-depth photos how I do the bead embroidery on each crocheted MEDALLION.
Two of my most favorite things to do are bead crochet and bead embroidery. One day I was messing about and came up with this pattern. I must say, making these MEDALLIONS is quite addictive.
With a few yards of crochet cotton and a few "bead scraps" you can create a MEDALLION in about half an hour. After creating my first MEDALLION, I went on to make around 50 more. I just couldn't stop.
Each MEDALLION (made according to my pattern) measures about 1 1/8 inches finished. You will need the following to create one MEDALLION...
Size 10 Ecru crochet cotton (or cotton to match color palette) (approximately 3 yards)
Size 5/1.90MM crochet hook
Needle - crochet cotton will go through 1-4mm fire polish crystal
3-different colors of size 11 seed beads
Row 1: 12-14 beads
Row 2: 22-24 beads
Row 3: 30-32 beads
2-different colors of size 8 seed beads (32 total) (these will form the petals)
Long beading needle for bead embroidery
Fireline 6lb crystal thread (about 1 yard)
In my photo listings, I have shown you how I used a few of these MEDALLIONS within my bead work. You can also adorn flower pots, tablet covers, t-shirts, quilts and so much more! The possibilities are endless!
