You are purchasing an odd count peyote digital pattern....NOT THE ITEM IN THE PHOTO!!
**Knowledge of odd count peyote is needed as no instructions for this stitch are included in the directions.
I used to work in my boy’s elementary school, years ago now. There was one story that I read many times called THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR written and illustrated by Eric Carle. Boy, what a genius! I did my best to capture the little caterpillar from egg to butterfly, stopping over to eat many fruit stuffs along the way. I wanted to bring the caterpillars colorful journey to beads! I hope you like it!
There are 28 different bead colors in this pattern. It was a challenge but if you just pour out the colors you need in a particular section, it goes easier. From my stitching experience on this design it pays to take your time and enjoy the "journey". I had a blast designing and stitching it. I hope Mr. Carle would be proud!
I used size 11/0 Delica beads, 4lb Fire Line fishing line and a toggle bar and ring for the closure. For the optional PICOT trim I used size 15/0 Miyuki round seeds in DURACOAT GALVANIZED MUSCAT (#15-4206).
I used 28 different colors for a total of 2289 DELICA beads! There are 23 columns and 199 rows.
The finished size of THE RAVENOUS WORM is 1 3/8 inches wide which includes the PICOT trim by 6 5/8 inches long before adding the clasp.
If you need to make your bracelet longer I would choose a toggle bar and ring closure as I have shown here as you can extend it by adding more jump rings. If you want the peyote longer I would work DELICA #434 and DELICA #1497 in a striped fashion at each end until your desired length is achieved.
Thank you Mr. Carle for a wonderful story with such brilliant illustrations for ALL of us to enjoy! Young or old, this story will live on in beads!
