This is an odd count peyote pattern...
My middle son Greg had a fabulous 1st grade teacher. Ms. Bracken was a delight! She taught my son many things and she did it all with LOVE. She soon became Greg's favorite teacher and he still speaks fondly of her even now, 25 years later. As I got to know her, I learned she collected, of all things, PIGS. I designed this pattern in honor of her, several years after she taught my sweet Greggie! WHEN PIGS FLY! As you can see, she left quite an impression with me and is a dear friend to this day!
I used size 11/0 Delica beads; size 15/0 round silver lined gold seed beads for the optional trims; 4lb Fire Line fishing line and a toggle bar and ring for the closure.
This pattern has 8 colors making 21 columns and 197 rows. There are 2069 beads used in total.
The finished size of this bracelet is 6 3/4 inches long by 1 3/8 inches wide which includes the option #3 trim. To lengthen this bracelet, simply continue to work at each end, randomly adding the blue/light blue beads (forming the sky) and then the flowers at the top and bottom of your bracelet - all this until you reach your desired length.
There are 3 trim options. Complete the bracelet as shown on the graph or WORD chart first...then you can add no trim, add the size 15/0 seeds in a 5-bead stitch OR you can do a bit of bead weaving to complete whole FLOWERS as I have done in the original piece. See step by step photos later in this pattern for all options. These trim features are optional.
Ms. Bracken’s PIG collection was vast. She had passion for the PINK guys!
